Since I was about to reach the chorus of "My Junk," I saw no harm in breaking my usual titles for one post. My older sister has received The Preppy Mafia Award. While I cannot quite follow the rules, since I do not know 10 blogers to pass it along to, I can answer the questions that I am supposed to! So, here goes.
1. Who is your style icon? OK, I can't really answer this question. I'm not much a fashionist by following stars and coming up with ideas to wear. I tend to stick to my own idea of cute and comfortable. So, I'll simply tell you that J Crew and Anthropologie are my absolute favorites. They are both completely out of price range, but when I can-- those are my top two fashion choices. Forever 21 is a fun place if you like to mix and match things people might not always be used to seeing ;-).
2. What is your favorite socialite lit book? Ummm..... I don't believe I've really read one. I'm not too in to that type of literature, I suppose.
3. Favorite Party Theme? When I was in Alpha Phi we did a lot of themed mixers. They ranged from Cady Shack, to High School Stereotypes, to Wild West. I think I enjoy costume parties moreso than themed parties, because with Halloween and things like that you get to choose who you want to be and aren't limited. Plus, at themed parties, people tend to show up in the same things because you havel imited resources. I would probably say a Great Gatsby, 40s or 50s themed party would be my favorite. That's my kind of style, I guess.
4. Go-to Halloween Costume? Well, I've failed. While I would prefer Halloween to a themed party, I unfortunately do not do Halloween that often. It always seems that we have other things to do, like this past year I came down with Swine flu and was unable to do anything. However, I would say (as was the same with the previous question), I would like to do something from a time period that isn't so recent. Forget the 80s... let's go REAL vintage.
5. Extravagance you cannot live without? Again, hard to answer. The easiest thing to say is getting my hair done. I've learned that I enjoy having someone do my hair professionally much more than I enjoy doing it out of a box. Either way I still have yet to return to my "real" coloring. However, I have recently learned that I can live without getting my hair done, or at least I can live with going longer than 8 weeks to pay an exorbant amount to make my hair look and feel pretty.
6. Living person you admire? There are quite a few; in fact, it's really hard to only pin-point one person. All of my family members are worth admiring, as are many of my friends. I think, truthfully, there's something to admire in everyone, you just have to find it.
7. Greatest Fear? Being alone. Completely alone. Losing all of those who are closest to me and having to face not having anyone.
8. Trait you deplore in yourself? I have a tendency to over-think, over-judge, and over-react. They all come together, too. I start going down the road of "what ifs" and can't seem to turn around and say, "That's far enough!" Unfortunately, when I overreact, it tends to be with someone who I care about. It always seems that that person is the closest target. Don't worry... I'm working on it.
9. What talent would you like to have the most? I'd like to have true Broadway talent. The whole shebang. Singing, dancing, acting... I wish all of it came naturally and that I had the ability to practice it either on Broadway or on a stage somewhere, anywhere....
10. Greatest Achievement? I don't know if I can name one, which sounds rather terrible. I got married at a young age, I'm married DURING college, I survived and did more than survive Clark's 13 weeks at boot-camp (which was a BIG step), I'm graduating college on time (which is definitely a sigh of relief), and I'm working on two works of publishable non-fiction, one work of publishable fiction, many short stories, and more. I would like to think I'm a good friend/daughter/wife...I think I have a lot to be proud of in my life.
Until next time.
We've all got our junk, and my junk is you!
